Leaky Echoes

146 cm x 152 cm x 175 cm - PVC pipes, PVC joints, flexible plastic tubes, plastic box, spray paint, moss, clay, polymer clay, root, soil, miniature speakers

This piece is a sound installation which synthesizes my ideas and links my other pieces together. The pipe textures evoke a hybridization of natural and man-made elements from the underground into a heterogeneous system. The sounds “leaking” from inside the pipes (a heartbeat, water dripping, and a subway train) are recorded from the real world and provide the viewer with an immersive sensory experience. The structure appears unfinished as if it were only a glimpse into a broader, hidden system.
